There is a very large Japanese community living in Brazil so we get a lot of Japanese related programmes and news items. This morning I found out about the Kishiwada Danjiri Festival. What began as a dedication to Inari, the fox god of the harvest, has turned into a completely crazy race.
Different neighbourhoods of Kishiwada spend a year creating intricately carved wooden floats and then spend two days tearing round the streets of the town on these moveable shrines that weigh 4 tons. They are pulled by as many as 500 to 1000 people. The best part are the high speed accidents that occur as they are dragged around narrow roads and street corners, crashing into buildings and sometimes completely falling over.
('97)
I haven't found a decent video from this years festival and that one from '97 doesn't really do justice to what I saw on TV. Guys falling off the roof and carts knocking over telephone poles. Excellent.

Apologies for the disruption in service. Mainly due to a catalogue of errors when my host attempted to conduct interdimensional engineering. Anyway, while the site was down, I took the opportunity to get back my .com been a long time but it's finally mine again.

Krazybov comics started life a long time ago as a free photocopied A5 comic in London. An extremely boring nine to five gave me the opportunity to produce a small number of copies and give them out at comic marts. Some even sat on the counters of select comic shops in London.
I lived all my life in England until recently when I moved to Brazil, where I will be living for the next two years. My passion for comics still burns and now I want to involve you. Starting from issue three krazybov comics is to become an anthology of diverse stories, and it's already begun.
While I'm in Brazil I plan to compile several issues ready for printing when I return to England in 2010. This will not be a print on demand project. Each issue will be professionally printed and available for free from comic stores and marts across London. The print run for each issue is likely to be around a thousand copies. Mainly because the funds for printing will be raised solely through advertising that will appear in the comic and on this website. I am always looking for new advertisers so if you are interested then there are more details on the krazy ads page. My aim is to make krazybov comics a self sustaining ongoing title for as long as possible.
Why do I want to do this? I love comics and I've always dreamt of drawing for one of the big publishers. Unfortunately we are all well aware how difficult it is to break into the industry. Yet we continue writing and drawing simply because we enjoy it. On my travels I have come across a wealth of talented people with the same dream but no chance of getting in print. All I want to do is provide a platform for us to get our stories printed.
So go ahead and submit something or just send me an email and tell me what you think.
